Good Wishes to Spare?
Mandy at Crafty Fox Cards is having a bit of a time with sick family members. She's making the rounds of three different hospitals right now. One cousin has cancer and is getting treatment. Another just had a bad stroke that's done a lot of damage. Plus, now her mum has fallen and dislocated her hip. She will probably need a new hip replacement and is suffering from several complications to boot. If you've got some time to spare, stop by and send some good wishes her way.

Mega Candy
Erika is celebrating her 2 year blogaversary. She has about $900 dollars of goodies to give away and she's splitting it up so there are multiple winners. There's lots of great stuff so check it out. Maybe I'm silly, but the thing I want most is the Bow Easy; I'm not greedy, I'll even let someone else have the ribbon that goes with it. I just want the tool and I'm sure my mom would want her serving fork back if she knew I had it, hehe! I think I'd better sneak it back in the kitchen before the turkey needs serving or I'll be busted! Anyhow, Happy Blogaversary Erika! (see the link in the sidebar)

Letraset Candy
Mandy at Crafty Fox Cards is teaming up with Letraset to giveaway some Promarkers. I've never tried these myself, but the results can look very nice. Visit Mandy to learn more of the details. Crafty Fox Cards
Well another month gone. I've been doing a little of the bandana technique in preparation for card making. I haven't sat down to make cards in months. Ok, not quite true. I've sat at my craft table trying to get inspired and come up dry several times. Now I need to get creating since I give a friend some all occasion cards as a Christmas gift and I haven't made any of them yet. I bought a new magazine called Card Maker that looks promising, so this weekend I'll have to sit down with it and see what comes out of it. I've got my fingers crossed.
Merry Christmas to all!

Best Wishes
My heart and best wishes go out to Mandy from Crafty Fox Cards. She's suffering from back problems that are leaving her in constant debilitating pain. As someone suffering from chronic problems myself, she sure has my sympathy. Anyone stopping by my want to pop by her blog and leave her some love. She also has blog candy running until the end of the month.

Fall Is Here!
Yes, Fall has arrived! The trees are gorgeous and we actually have nice weather today. It is warm and sunny instead of the usual cold and cloudy with threats of rain.
I've upgraded to a new computer and a laser printer. Now I can print digis that won't smear if I try and colour them. I've got some Bic Mark-its, but there doesn't seem to be a way to blend them like I see folks with copics can. I do have watercolour pencils that I will probably play with. I guess I'll see. I have a Boot House image from Make It Crafty that is behind the desire to try digis and colouring and I'm dying to play with it. If I make anything with it, maybe I'll actually post it.
Ink Cut & Fold has some blog candy to give away, so check it out: http://taylordconcepts.blogspot.com/2010/09/come-fly-with-me.html

Summer's End
Well, August proved to be a little busy. We hold a family reunion every five years, so we spent the long weekend catching up, eating, playing games, etc. It was a lot of fun. I also spent a week visiting my sister and her family since they were too busy renovating to attend the reunion. That trip included LOTS of shopping, so now I'm tired and broke; isn't that what holidays are for though?
Going back to work after my holiday and the recent cool weather sure sends the message that fall is on it's way. I'm glad to see that the kids are going back so there will be fewer of them in the store, but it's bittersweet.
Some new candy is up for grabs at Make It Crafty and Crafty Fox Cards, so see the sidebar.

Inked Inspirations Blog Candy
To celebrate her birthday, Jodi's giving away 5 different candy prizes. I was going to add it to my sidebar, but there are 5 different pictures, so I'm posting instead. Here are the pics:

Poor posting
Well, as it says at the top, I started this blog because there's some things you can't do without one. As you can guess, I mainly wanted to enter candy draws and they almost exclusively require applicants to link to the candy and follow their blogs (kinda hard to do without a blog of your own).
I noticed some of the bloggers I now follow say they like to check out their followers sites. I resolved to upload some of my work to my SCS gallery so people would have something to see. A card a day, I vowed. Well, that didn't last long since our internet is sooo slow that uploading even a single pic takes over 10 minutes. I don't have that kind of patience and it is so easy to procrastinate, so I doubt I'll ever have much to see, but who knows? I might feel inspired to try on occasion. :)
I guess the big thing to see on my blog will always be that I update my sidebar links whenever that blog has a new candy. So the links will always be as new as the most recent offer, on the ones I follow at least.

Blog Candy Time
Holy Canole! I was catching up on all the blogs I follow and a blog candy link on Penni's site, Lazy Cats Cards, caught my eye. As you can see, I do love candy and it looked delicious, so I decided to check it out. One of the requirements is to look at three posts and pick your favourite. The mechanical paper carousel was going to be what I considered to be a hands down winner based on the thumbnails, but when I got to the third one and saw all the fussy cutting in making the pop-up card, I was smitten. I'm a bit anal myself when it comes to fussy cutting and this just blew me away. Great cards, so I guess I'll be adding another blog to my follow list, even though it's not a requirement, 'cause I want to see more from this talented lady. If you want to take a look for yourself, the link is: www.makeitcrafty.com.au. The candy is:

New Toys!
I finally got my Shutterfly book. There are a few "oops" in it because it is so hard to see it on the computer screen. Some backgrounds were a bit too busy for the amount of text I had on the page. Also, they put the cat backgrounds in the dog section as well as the cat and I accidentally picked the cat one instead of the dog one but it was so small on the screen I couldn't tell. All in all I am very happy with the book. It will probably be the only scrapbooking item I ever do that anyone else in the family will treasure too (it's tough to have an appreciative audience when you don't have kids of your own to leave it to). Anyway, I prefer making pages with real paper, so I don't know that I will ever do another one.
New toys? Yes. I spent my extra money from my tax return and got stuff for my Big Shot. I am still waiting for my Stampin' Up! order, but my two orders of nestabilities have arrived and they are fabulous!!!! I bought fourteen sets and I can see that I will be investing in all four of the basic shapes in plain and scalloped. I tried making my niece's birthday card and all the stamps I wanted to use were the wrong shape for the circle and sqaure ones that came in the first order. I was happy when the ovals arrived, but that was after the deadline for the card. I'm so loving them and can hardly wait to make more things so I can use them again.
Yes, I did say I was going to upload more cards to my Splitcoast gallery and I haven't really done much. Too many other non-stamping projects to complete. I will eventually have a gallery I can be proud of, but I can see my goal of one upload per day was a bit much. I have enough trouble keeping up with the blogs I'm following in my stamping time to get much creating or uploading done. Sigh! Someday I'll get my act together :) .

Gallery Link
I have started to upload a few of my cards to my Splitcoast Stampers Gallery, so I figured I'd put a link to my gallery. It's taken me a year to get three photos uploaded, but hopefully it won't take so long to get the rest of them in there.
Blog Candy Again!

Shutterfly
Well, I've been recouperating from surgery on my nose, so I've been pretty quiet. It didn't help that I've also been fighting off some sort of bug and a possible eye infection. All in all, I expected the recovery to be more painful than it was, so I can't complain.
While I was convalescing, I received a free Valentine's gift from Creating Keepsakes, an 8x8 hardcover photo book from Shutterfly, as a thank you for being a subscriber. Sweet! Makes up for not winning on any of the blog candy's. I finally started working on it this past weekend. Thankfully, we had a stat holiday, so I had extra time to work on it. I've never done one before and am fairly new to scrapbooking, so it was a learning experience. I think I prefer the freedom of making your pages with real paper and photos. You can take your time doing it and aren't limited to templates that don't quite work for your photos or journaling. Still, I packed a lot into my little 20 page book and I can't wait for it to arrive. BTW, I was pleasantly surprised at how quick the turnaround was; I put my order in just before midnight on Tuesday and they e-mailed me at 2:30 this afternoon to say it had been shipped. Now I'm waiting on international mail. Well, I'm trying to catch up on my sleep and I'm already 30 minutes later that I planned, so it's off to bed.

huge blog candy
Wow, this is HUGE blog candy. First time I've entered a draw for some (not counting the CTMH for the Felicity Collection since it's a vendor thing). My second time becoming a follower. This is pretty big progress for me. Wish I knew what I was doing so I could put the blog candy in my sidebar. Maybe someday, this is enough progress for one day.

Ok, I think it's time for bed; it's after 3am. I did finally learn how to put links in my sidebar thanks to instructions by Shawne who's giving away the Clear Dollar Stamps blog candy. Good thing I don't have to work tomorrow like I usually would; I'd be in bed before midnight, but I wouldn't have been entered in to all these great draws. Sure left my comfort zone by letting my e-mail out there though, so I hope I don't regret that.

Favourite Embellishments
CTMH challenge to list and link my favourite embellishment. It's hard to choose just one, but I guess I'd have to say sparkles (rhinestones for non-CTMH fans). I do use brads, eyelets, buttons, and ribbon alot. I'm also not above a little glitter or embossing (dry or powder) although I'm not sure embossing counts as an embellishment.
Mostly, I just collect all kinds of embellishments. I see something and think of the possiblilities and then can't bear to use it, especially if I 'm giving it away. I keep telling myself if I use it, I can buy more, but it's not working yet. Maybe scrapbook pages that I make for myself, then it's like a have your cake and eat it too thing. Yeah, that's the ticket... now I just have to make some pages!
